One of Coward's less-performed works, Relative Values sees the worlds of starry Hollywood and stiff-upper-lip Brittania collide over the course of a weekend at Marshwood House, deep in the garden of England, with hilarious consequences.  As Nigel, Earl of Marshwood, returns home with his bride-to-be, movie starlet Miranda Frayle, his horrified mother and the servants of the house prepare themselves for the worst as long-buried family secrets come to light in deliciously painful circumstances. 

 

 

Rye Festival

The Rye Festival is held each year in the first two weeks of September. The Festival was founded in 1972 to bring the arts in their varied forms to Rye and for over three decades it has welcomed many illustrious names and fostered many young talents. The highlights of this year's Festival include top class writers Julian Barnes and Toby Litt and Just a Minute's Nicholas Parsons. Classic FM's Natalie Wheen, Susannah York and the razor sharp comedian Jo Caulfield are among the theatrical events.  showdon'ttell performed scenes by Moira Buffini at the Rye Festival on the 7th September 2006.

The Games Room

Tom and Barbara are trapped; stifled by their own relationship. In an attempt to escape their suburban mundanity, they resort to playing games. Board games are one thing, but what else will they play? showdon'ttell was asked by the author to produce this rare piece as part of 'The Miniaturists - Short Plays by Tall Writers' at Southwark Playhouse on Sunday 18th June 2006.

Retired Hurt  - The summer of 2005... the crack of willow on leather... as the England cricket team battle to regain the Ashes, two men meet in a north London bedsit to complete the sale of Ian Botham's bat – where talk of sporting trivia turns into something altogether more sinister.

Mad Margaret's Revenge - Margaret, assistant manager at her local Co-Op, daydreams of making it big as a Hollywood film director. With the help of her friend Gemma, she plays out the scenes in the supermarket staffroom as reality and fiction begin to blur.

 

 

Loveplay

Six actors take on over 30 roles in Moira Buffini's Loveplay - a tragicomedy of colourful characters and intimate moments set on a grand scale.  Set on the same site in London from the open countryside of Roman Britain to the bustling inner city of 21st century life, the play explores Love in all its various forms and expressions.  From sex-starved centurions and repressed homosexual to sixties swingers and present day lonely hearts, the play is a sexy and exciting exploration of the many facets of love.
