"I was very impressed with showdon'ttell's production of Loveplay. They got both the humour and the heart of the play. A strong, intelligent ensemble, beautifully directed. I look forward to their next show." - Moira Buffini

About Us

Show Don't Tell was founded by a group of actors inspired by the teachings and techniques of Viola Spolin.

Learning and performing together, we discovered common goals: to create, direct, watch and enjoy well-produced theatre. We discovered that this ideology, this unity of purpose, was not an everyday occurrence and that we had a real opportunity to work together in what we believe is at the root of all great theatre - a company.

Our company - in the theatrical and business sense - is formed around a group of friends. We work, laugh, cry, scream and shout together - all the elements of good drama!

We hope to transfer this sense of company to the audience. Theatre can be conducted in an atmosphere of stilted reverence. That is not our way. We want each member of the audience to engage in proceedings, without having to be told what to think and feel.

We aim to show. Not tell.

'Theatre is an artistic group relationship, demanding the talents and energy of many people - from the first thought of a play to the last echo of applause.' - Viola Spolin
